western universities whose missions are geared towards training, education,
research, technological innovations and development.

To glimpse some of the recent collaborations, WSU has the tie with Boston
University (USA), Bergamo University (Italy), University of Hernia (Estonia),
Ashish life Plc (India), University College of Dublin (Ireland), Ashikiga Institute
of Technology (Japan), Valencia University (Spain), and recently it is in in bargain
with many others like KLU University, India, and IBM East Africa Limited.
In the presence of Ambassader Shin-ichi Saida, Japan Ambassador in Ethiopia,
Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Permanent Representative to AU, the two
universities, WSU and Ashikage Institute of Technology (AIT), agreed up on
contributing for the generation and transmission of new knowledge and innovation
through research, training and education.
In the intensive discussion that was held in Japan Embassy, Ethiopia march, 2017,
both institutions through their representatives agreed to provide an instrument for
establishing various collaborative initiatives for growth and mutual benefit of the
The discussion is mainly focused on the project management and implementation
in fields of engineering, computer science, and renewable energy, and to explore

partnership that the two institutions made is expect advance and fostering the
strong tie between the two countries.
Similarly, WSU also made intensive discussion with the delegates of Valencia
University, to cooperate both in academic and research fields of higher education.
To carry out this cooperative program, the universities agreed to share pedagogical
experiences, to take part in congresses, science meeting, seminars and yearly
cooperative programs in research and various community service schemes.
Based on the mutual agreement made between Wolaita Sodo University and
University of Massachusetts University (WSU- UMBA), representatives of the two
universities are working on identifying specific areas to take action based on
memorandum of understanding.
Also on November 2017, delegates of Wolaita Sodo University, namely Dr.
Senbetie Toma, President of WSU and Dr. Berhanu Kuma, Vice President for
Research Community Services, have made official visit to University College of
Bergamo University (Italy) and WSU also instigated WSU-UNIBG ice-breaking
projects which embraces student exchange, experience and knowledge sharing
between the two institutions which take place from 30th March to April 2017.
Also medical crew, which moved from Estonia (Spain) to different parts of the
continent, were in WSU for weeks to give free medical service for local
community around Wolaita Sodo. Beyond the medical services, the crew shared
knowledge and experiences to clinical and academic staff of Ottona campus.
On the occasion of the ceremony, based on the annual performance,
colleges/schools and directorates that distinctly executed their tasks and discharge
their responsibilities were awarded the merit certificates by the president.
