WSU signs agreement with Germany veg box PLC for solar project

Germany veg box PLC donated 30,000,000 birr for solar project which would be implemented at Offa district, Mancha site. The solar energy with capacity of 500 KW will supply electric power for Agume villagers at Mancha.

Mr. Wondimu Dawit, from engineering department of WSU mentioned that the company planned to invest horticultural production at Agume; on the way, the villagers will be benefitted for electricity supply. Besides, it will open job access for unemployment.

This project site will be good opportunity for WSU and Gesuba technical and vocational students’ for apparent ship program and technology transfer.

Dr. Tekle Leza, vice president of business and development of WSU headed the discussion on behalf of WSU president, and he mentioned that Wolaita Sodo University has such experiences of agreements with international institutions

On the discussion, the participants pointed out that leaders of Wolaita zone and Gesuba district should work jointly to help cooperatives to facilitate income for unemployment from power sale.

Stakeholders for the project implementation are sheg-box (owner), simen (contractor), giz (consultancy) and WSU and Offa district cooperates

Finally, the project coordinators announced that preparation for machinery implantation is already completed.
