The first national forum on artificial intelligence at Addis Ababa University

Discussion on artificial intelligence is going on at Addis Ababa University nationally for the first time. The forum is organized by Addis Ababa University and Wolaita Sodo University in collaboration. Simultaneously, professionals, leaders, students and researchers have been participating in the forum. It is also mentioned that artificial intelligence (AI) is essential for growth and transformation

The forum mainly focused on how to use this artificial intelligence for the advancement of education, health and agricultural sectors in Ethiopia.

Wolaita Sodo University has made great commitment in collaborating with Addis Ababa University to organize this forum. This form has great significance in networking Universities across the country to work on this innovation.

On the top of this, ideas were generated on the way to fulfill infrastructures, laboratories and other equipment. Furthermore, experience sharing, creating awareness and researches should be conducted on the area to advance this technology and to do this, the forum should have continuity.

Dr. Mesfin Bibiso, Vice President of research and community service of Wolaita Sodo University, announced boldly to the participants that artificial intelligence (AI) has great contribution for growth and transformation of our country for the advancement of education, health and agricultural sectors. He also emphasized that all stake holders should work in collaboration to achieve the program.

Mr. Ashenafi Kebede, dean of Informatics College of Wolaita Sodo University, on his part, promised to work on the area.  As it is highly important for the advancement of our country, we should work hard to reach on the level of modernization, he said.

Finally, as the forum is going on, participants of the forum planned to form professionals association that works on the area.
